Full Description
The Stilt Village Excursion First, board a local motorized community boat to cruise past hundreds of traditional houses built high up on slender wooden pillars. During this ride, you will witness daily local life over the water, from residents scaling wooden ladders to fishermen preparing their nets and children traveling to school by boat.
The Floated Mangrove Forest Near the edge of the village lies a dense, protected mangrove forest that becomes completely submerged during high water levels. Consequently, you will transfer from the motorized boat into a small wooden rowing boat where local women paddle canoes through the quiet canopy for a peaceful ride beneath the flooded trees.
Entering the Great Tonle Sap Lake Afterward, you will emerge from the forest into the massive expanse of Tonle Sap Lake. As a result, you will experience the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia, which feels just like an open ocean.

Morning vs. Sunset Tours
- Morning Tour (Approx. 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM): Initially, you can enjoy cooler weather and active local trading for a clear, authentic look at daily village life.
- Sunset Tour (Approx. 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM): Alternatively, you can choose the afternoon slot to watch the golden sun dip below the horizon of the vast lake.
The out-of-pocket expenses to budget for at the site include:
Main Motorized Boat Ticket & Community Fee: $20 USD per person.
This ticket covers your entry into the community zone and your private or shared large motorized boat that takes you down the river, through the stilted village, and out onto the Great Tonle Sap Lake.
Small Rowing Boat through the Mangrove Forest (Optional): $5 to $7 USD per boat.
This is paid at the floating rest stop if you choose to take the 15–20 minute canoe ride through the flooded trees. Each small wooden canoe holds up to two passengers and is rowed by a local villager.
