Chrey Thum Border Crossing: A Gateway to Vietnam
Chrey Thum (Kandal Province) is an increasingly important international border crossing between Cambodia and Vietnam. It connects Cambodia’s Kandal province to Long Binh in Vietnam’s An Giang province via a modern bridge over the Bassac River.

The Chrey Thum border is situated in the Koh Thum District of Kandal Province, roughly 70km south of Phnom Penh. The landscape is dominated by the Bassac River, featuring lush riverbanks and traditional stilt-house communities. It serves as a vital economic link for agricultural trade between the two countries.

The area shares the typical tropical monsoon climate of the Mekong Delta region:

- From Vietnam: Travelers cross from the Long Binh border gate in An Giang province. Once across the bridge, you are officially in Chrey Thum.

- Tuk-Tuk & Moto-Taxi: Local “motos” and remorks are readily available at the border gate to take you to nearby guesthouses or the local market.
- Walking: The immediate border area and the bridge connecting the two countries are manageable on foot for those completing immigration formalities.
